When my husband was in EMT school, he met a doctor that taught him something he would never forget. He told him there are two types of people in the world: those that call for help, and those that are called to help.
While he was referring to paramedics when he dropped those pearls of wisdom, I feel this is applicable to any field. Nursing is a great example, and I have worked with nurses on both sides of this kind of fence. Nurses that panic when they see blood and nurses that could run trauma alerts by themselves. My husband and I were so motivated to learn as much as we could, so that WE would be the paramedic and ER nurse that were CALLED by their peers if something went wrong. I like to think that we got there…. 🙂
What do you do for a living? Are you a SAHM? Are you the kind of mom that has all the answers, that all the other moms in your community call because you are the expert? Are you in sales? Are you the salesperson that others will call for new ideas on how to pitch to a new market? What ever it is you do to pass your days- do you give it your all? Do you have pride, and strive to be the best that you can? Be the one that is called to help.
